Monday night, June 22, I took Macy, Emily and Macy's friend Becca to Thunder of Drums in Mankato. The program said it's been going on for 19 years but this is the first chance we had to see it and it was worth it! Unfortunately it was the hottest, most humid stretch of weather we'd had yet this summer and there was almost no air movement at all. We all sat close together on metal bleachers in the heat and drank as much cool water and gatorade as we could. During half-time we stood in line at the shaved ice stand and cooling off with that really seemed to help. The participants were awesome. The program started with the local Lancers group (which weren't included in the competition) and then moved on to groups from farther away. The one thing that surprised me about this competition was that they not only had drums and bugles but also every group had dancers and some performances were like skits or plays.

Shirley,
Great pictures of this! Just wondering if you happen to have any others of the Lancers?!?! Morgan is in it and we weren't able to make it to the Thunder of Drums inside (little boys...let me tell you!)
Thanks,
HEIDI
