Finally!! School starts!!

Just for fun I thought I'd load a picture of Daniel starting 6th grade. Maybe it's the angle of the picture - maybe he's standing farther away from the door - but notice how he's grown and filling up the door frame in the picture below.

That's my boy!!

Standing by his locker on open house night. Locker number 98 - the year he was born! That's easy to remember.

Anxious to get to school on the morning of the 25th. Goodbye summer and hello homework, structure and routine!

Macy and her roommate Elena.
Sharing a specail moment in the lobby waiting for the bus to take the new students to AI.

There's the picture I was waiting for!!

and Macy and mom... not crying.... yet....

This would be when I was repeating to myself, "she's gonna be fine", "she's gonna be fine".

I'm going to miss you!

Despite the insane traffic in the downtown area at 9:00 in the morning - WE MADE IT!!!!!
Her new home. Each apartment holds four students and each student has their own bedroom which includes a private bathroom. Pretty sweet suite. ha ha

Macy's very own bathroom. She has cleaning supplies - I hope she uses them!

Furnished living room.

Full, although small, kitchen. The challenge would be for four people to share cupboards and refrigerator space.....

The hardest part

of any new journey is saying goodbye to everything that's familiar and safe and moving on into the unknown. You take with you material things that remind you of home and you gain confidence and courage and perhaps even overcome some fears.
Hard to say goodbye.

Hard not to cry.

Trying to be brave and it's hard for all of us to watch.

We love you Macy!

Macy moves to college

Emily and Macy pack in her room. It's impressive that you can see her bed and her floor and that's thanks to Emily's hard work. She motivated and kept on her sister to get stuff cleaned out and organized because that would make packing so much easier. It worked - God bless you, Emily!
And the pile to load into the van early Wednesday morning.

Of course Sundrop was included in that pile. And it's the old stuff too!! Liquid gold! She received a case as a graduation gift from a mom who knew how much she loved it and I had found a couple of cases in Mankato just after they changed the recipe. She's been hoarding them for a special occasion. Making friend at school is just that special occasion!

Loaded up and ready to head out in the morning.

Macy and her boys. They've grown very fond of hanging out in our basement and living room and we'll miss them as they all go their own ways. James has already taken off for basic in Missouri, Lance will soon follow as he heads to Gustavus football camp and last we lose Luke to Duluth. I couldn't be more sad than if these three truly belonged to me. Good kids - great friends.

Home cookin!!

The girls schemed and cooked a fantastic supper thanks to the Pioneer Woman cookbook. I hope they do it again!
Those would be real mashed potatoes! mmmm

The finished product - scrumptious!

Emily moves home

Her summer classes almost done except for one more that would be cheaper to drive to and from than to stay in the dorm. Not to mention home has A/C, food in the fridge and a free washer and dryer. She moved back to boring old St. James and her boring old room and her boring old mother and are we ever glad to have her back! It won't be the last time she moves out but is this the last time she moves home? Only time will tell.
Macy and her friends, the Peterson twins, drove the van down and loaded the last of her things to come back home.

Her car was full as well.

Thank goodness they were there to help load and unload the van.

The move was later celebrated at the Dairy Queen. Where else on a hot, humid night?
