Weekend in the Cities part two

Yup, I'm fascinated with that boat.

A weekend away

Two dear friends with birthdays only a fews days apart certainly should be celebrated!!  A weekend in the cities was planned and despite some weird GPS detours, a great time was had!!  A stay at the Embassy Suites, great food at Cowboy Jack's restaurant, a visit to Bill's Gun Club and Shooting Range (certainly a first for me!), several hours at the Minnesota History Museum and lunch at The Happy Gnome in St. Paul.  What a great time and a great place to catch up and relax!

A friend from Iowa gets a wonderful Minnesota welcome.  lol

The Minnesota History Museum is a beautiful building and a great place for adults and kids alike.  We sat in an airplane similator and heard from a Korean War Veteran about his experience as being a paratrooper.  The similator was about World War II and the Normandy Beach invasion.  Very sobering and very emotional to hear about that terrible and fatal night.  The only paratoopers to get out of the airplane alive were the three men nearest the door.....
Checking out the tank in the "Greatest Generation" room.

A familiar candy vending machine from my childhood...I remember tugging on the pulls to get the candy to drop down.  :-)

I love how they display things like this boat suspended from the wall.  I'm sure it's heavy, made of real wood instead of fiberglass and of course it's in perfect condition.
