The St. Peter Govenaires. I don't remember them being in a recent parade. They were a nice addition!
Their drum major who I thought looked like Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead. They also performed after the parade like Su Fu Du did. Extra entertainment!

Kramer's Kracker Jacks were back. We haven't seen them for several years. Also a fun, lively drum corps that is fun to watch and listen to.

The Kracker Jacks always pose for a camera if they see one along the route.

This is the best spot to watch the parade from. The curb.
Macy and M seem to be having a serious conversation. I hope Macy is telling her she has to stay out of the street no matter how tempting the candy is!

Baby J took her begging down the street and tried Grandma.
She looks kind, maybe she'll unwrap the candy for me??

And then there was a dragon!

And everyone's favorite - Su Fu Du

Railroad Days Parade

An annual event in St. James. This year the weather was good, last year's parade was cancelled due to rain.
Macy's first year playing the quads and they had to learn a new cadence as well.

Our special little girl, M's mom got married the Saturday of Railroad Days and was having a reception at the Hickory Inn. Emily called them to see if she would be able to go to the parade and they gave us two little girls to take along! M and J proved to be a bit of a challenge and completely wore us out by the end of the parade. Of course there was parade candy and why wouldn't you want to eat all of it at once? Or take one lick of a sucker only to discover you don't like it and then throw it in the street. And why wouldn't you teeter dangerously near the curb when the motorcycles of death are coming at you? And why wouldn't you have to go potty during the parade even though all the area businesses are closed because there's a celebration going on?? Why wouldn't you?? Like I said, we were exhausted when it was time to go to the reception!

Emily's sunglasses looked perfect with her cute little sundress.

A tired kid

Daniel stayed overnight at a friends house. This is what I found when I came home from work the day they brought him home. Sleeping in the chair clutching the remote. He stayed in the chair for a while with the tv on but then he must have pushed a button by accident because the tv went to a channel that was just static so I shut it off. He still didn't wake up. He floundered around in the chair for a while and when I couldn't stand to see him so contorted, I woke him up and told him to lay on the couch. He groggily moved to the couch. I finally woke him up for good the next morning - 17 hours after he came home and fell asleep - and he didn't remember moving to the couch.
That's one tired little boy!

More fun pictures. The sure sign of a really good party is silliness and there was no shortage here! Oh yea, and my brother made his famous beans. Another sign of a really good party!

Way to go Trevor. I've never seen anyone get Mike in a headlock before. I hope you stick around. I think you are good for him!
And of course Uncle Paul was there to celebrate as well. Here he's taking a picture of your favorite aunt. Me!

More silliness courtesy of your sister and cousin Megan.

It was a fun afternoon with friends and family.

And of course goofy cousins.
Naturally my girls win the un-sociable award. Really girls! Even Mike was more sociable than you were! What's up with that??????

A special day for a special young man

This is my nephew Mike. He arrived a little early and has had some obstacles thrown in his way as soon as he got started in this life. Through the love of his parents he has grown into a very special person. They gently pushed and encouraged him to face the world and he leaves a lasting impression on everyone who meets him. Great job, mom and dad and AWESOME job, Mike! Love you forever pal!

Mike's Graduation Party

Of course there were pictures, memorabilia, gifts,

a signed dilomma.... YEAH!! Way to go Mike!!

Fireworks Video

Here is a video I took with my digital camera of the fireworks from Lake Minnetonka. This is new territory for me, I've never used my camera to do a video. Thanks to Cory, boy computer wiz (he actually has a cape that he wears), who put it on my blog for me! What would we do without him - he even makes house calls! Wonder if he works for special K bars??

Ya more silly fireworks pictures. You have to remember that I was bobbing along in a boat trying to take these. Some turned out weird cool and some just turned out weird. What is it about fireworks that makes me keep trying to take pictures of them? I know they aren't going to turn out the way I want them to but I still can't stop trying. There must be something wrong with me!

I had the coolest picture of the fireworks that was a smiley face but it somehow got deleted from my camera. Honest, I didn't do it! I'll blame one of the kids... ;-)

Fireworks over the lake.
The almost full moon was a nice opening act.

Loved the pontoon with the illuminated bar. The bottles looked way cool (and tempting!).

My brother Curt and sister-in-law Jennie. Way awesome hosts!
