Our new puppy

I know it's kind of weird that I haven't posted anything for a really long time but the desire just hasn't been there. I finally downloaded Macy's pictures of our new puppy onto the computer and here she is! When we got her on February 9th , the guy said she was about two and a half months old. Baloney! She was huge!! I voted we call her Moose but everyone else voted for Bear. So I guess Bear it is. The top picture is yellow-y because it was taken inside our house and I don't think Macy used the flash. The second picture was taken at our last snow storm. Not this one, but the last one. Remember?? Yea, right. Anyway, as we were getting packed to leave on the band trip to Atlanta, I noticed that the puppy didn't look good. It was definitely a deja-vu of Maddie before she died. John and I took her to the vet and Jess promised to take care of her. They watched her overnight and did some x-rays but didn't find anything too alarming. Until they arrived for work the next day. Bloody diahrrea everywhere. Our baby had parvo - a deadly virus that strips the intestinal lining leading to severe diahrrea and vomiting. They started her on iv fluids and kept her for six days. While on the trip I text Jess everyday to see how things where going. Not much change for most of the trip. When we got home on Sunday I called the vet and he said there wasn't much change until that afternoon. He even used the word "perky" to describe her condition! Finally, some good news! She was very very sick when I left and I was very worried about her. We brought her home on Monday. She's very skinny but energetic and "perky"!!

New header picture

I just uploaded one of Macy's sunset pictures for my blog header. Hope she doesn't mind. Maybe I should have gotten her permission first? Oh well, I suppose I could pay her royalties! Ha ha - like I would....... Honestly though, she has quite the eye for photography doesn't she? I'm proud of her.

The answer is......

Mrs. Lovett from Sweeney Todd with Johnny Depp. Mrs. Lovett was played by Helena Bonham Carter and I thought Macy did a great job of duplicating her!

Congrats again to Britta who guessed it first. Two of my co-workers also guess correctly and I'm not sure if I need to give hugs for second and third place. I'll think about it.... could be considered harassment in the workplace. May not be worth the risk!

We have a winner!

We have a winner to the contest of guessing what movie character Macy was dressed for snow week. Congratulations, Britta! for guessing correctly and being the first (and maybe only one) to know the answer. Please collect your hug when you get back from Africa! Love ya!

I'm curious to see if anyone else will guess correctly so I'm not publishing her comment just yet. Let's hear from the rest of you!

There's no business like snow business

Macy was in the one act play on February 7th. She was in a play with an all girl cast because the guys were stranded in a snow storm and unable to make the performance. Or so the script went. It was a bit confusing and hard to follow but she did a great job on stage. As always the following one act plays were very entertaining and sometimes hilarious.

Macy and the play director, Mrs. Sunde. Her vision and casting always amaze me. She casts the best personalities for the parts they play and we have had the pleasure to see some seemingly quiet kids play some outrageous roles which boosted their self confidence and gave them the ability to move past St. James High knowing they were capable of great stage performances. Thanks, Mrs. Sunde, for believing in them and giving them the confidence to fill those memorable roles!

Who is she?

The week of February 4 was snow week at St. James high school. This day was "dress as your favorite movie character" (or something like that) day. I thought Macy was very clever in who she choose.
Who is she?
Enter a guess in the comments and the winner will get a hug from me. I follow a lot of blogs that offer give aways of fabulous and fun prizes. Even thought I'd love to offer a new car or fabulous camera, I'm giving a hug because I don't make promises I can't keep! ha ha
I will offer hints over the next few days' blog entries - so put your thinking caps on!

The Light Dance!

Is always the biggest hit of the evening. The lights are turned off in the gymnasium and the music starts in the almost total darkness and the glow sticks start to appear and seem to float all by themselves. This year's dance was especially cool. The picture above is supposed to be an '09 but a couple of girls were accidentally sitting in front of the 9. I'm amazed they can move around the stage and keep their focus on showing their light sticks and not run into each other or bang heads!
There was a voice that asked, "are you dead yet?" followed by the thump of a heart beat. The girls formed a straight line at this point and as the heart beat, they made gentle waves in the line. Pretty freaky, pretty cool. When they performed this dance for basketball, I heard many parents gasp in the audience at this part of the dance. Several muttered, "that's so cool". Way to wow the crowd girls!

The group dance

All of the girls learn the same group dance and at the end of their portion of the show, they all get on stage and perform. There's a lot of little yellow shirts down there!

The Munchkin Dance

Is always a crowd pleaser and a hoot to watch! Here are the MCs dressed up in the girls dance uniform and performing with their shoes on their hands! One unlucky boy wore boots and they were a challenge to manipulate!
The girls wearing "down on the farm" plaid shirts.

One by one they are slowly pulled out from behind the curtain until there's no one left. Fun!

More dancing

The extravaganza is a fund raiser for the team. It's also a chance for the girls to show off the dances they've performed over the season. They dance at wrestling matches and boys and girls basketball games. Sometimes it's half time and sometimes it's between b squad and vasity games. The extravaganza gives parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles a chance to enjoy the dances they've learned and performed in one enjoyable evening!

Last year, Coach started a boy's dance that was so adorable she's decided to do it every year! They are the hit of the show (right after the fumbling, bumbling dads, of course!)
The fabulous MCs for the night.

After the dad's dance, the girls and their parents are introduced and the girls present carnations to their parents.

The girls start out with a dance....
Then the little girls show their stuff.....

everyone has a good time!!
